OK, moms. You are reading this, and most likely no one else is reading over your shoulder. Time for a moment of evaluation. When your husband comes home from work–whether it’s in time for dinner, breakfast, or somewhere in between–do you stop to say “hello” and make him feel glad he’s home? How about the time your family spends together–are you surviving or thriving? (No one is listening to your mental answers, don’t worry.)
If you are like I am and could use some inspiration for improving these areas in your family life, then I have a great little book. OK, Welcome Home Daddy is not quite little as it has over 170 pages and four appendices; however, the chapters are extremely manageable and very easy to read. You will get lots of suggestions out of this book, so get ready to read with pen in hand!
There are two things I like most about Welcome Home Daddy:
- Lorrie writes from the trenches, not a pedestal. She shares stories of her own failures, and successes. When someone writes like that, it is much easier to accept their suggestions!
- Lorrie encourages women to embrace the roles God has given them. She wants to help you enjoy the things you do as wife and mom.
Even though the main focus of Welcome Home Daddy is the time your family spends together at home when you are all there, one of my favorite chapters was the one about family ministry. Having a desire to show my sons active ways to reach out to others, I really appreciated the multitude of suggestions Lorrie offered in this chapter.
Lorrie sent me Welcome Home Daddy in exchange for my honest review as part of the Gabby Moms program (2012 applications being accepted). You can order your own copy here. I definitely prefer holding a book in my hand, but if you are not a book person, you can order an audio session here.
