Gluten Free Crockpot Cinnamon Biscuits

The other night I was waiting for a late dinner with my husband. I was hungry and on Pinterest. Bad combination. While browsing and repinning, I came across this recipe for gluten free Crockpot Cinnamon Biscuits. (Her picture is prettier than mine.) I want to give full credit and traffic to The Frugal Farm Wife, so if you’re gluten free, you’ll want to head over to her blog to snag the recipe. You really do! The biscuits were fluffy, better than any recipe I’ve tried so far. She has a link over to her regular biscuit recipe and suggests making those in the crockpot as well. I did use the paper towel to absorb extra moisture as recommended. I didn’t want to risk too much wetness and ruining a recipe when the boys and I were so eagerly looking forward to this experiment!

However, I wanted to share a few ideas, too. Dr. J is also casein-free, so I think these would taste even more yummy when the biscuit dough is made with butter. I would love to experiment with adding walnuts or pecans, but I doubt I’ll get that chance soon. Dr. J avoids nuts. Perhaps I could put nuts on half.

You could also experiment with add-ins. How about a few mini chocolate chips, cranberries, or diced apple?

For those of you who are not gluten free, I’m thinking you could make a cheater version to save even more time! I’m guessing you could grab your favorite refrigerated biscuit dough, then go to the dipping steps, and have a brunch or tea time treat even faster.

Oh, and don’t clean and then enjoy your biscuits. The smell of cleaner on your fingers will severely clash with the beautiful aroma of cinnamon and sugar. Just a warning.

Do you have a favorite crockpot recipe? Feel free to leave it or a link to it (with description so we know you’re not spam) in the comments below!
